What is mosquito screen made of?

Mosquito screens, also known as insect screens or window screens, are designed to cover the openings of windows and doors to allow for ventilation while keeping out insects and other small pests. They are typically made from a mesh material that is stretched over a frame and secured in place.

The mesh can be made from several different materials:

Fiberglass Mesh: This is one of the most common materials used for making mosquito screens due to its low cost and ease of installation. Fiberglass mesh is lightweight and flexible but may not be as durable as other options.

Aluminum Mesh: More durable than fiberglass, aluminum mesh is stronger and more resistant to damage from pets and weather. It is often used in areas with high traffic or harsh climates.

Stainless Steel Mesh: Known for its strength and durability, stainless steel mesh can withstand extreme temperatures and is resistant to corrosion. It is suitable for regions with high humidity or saltwater exposure.

Pet-Resistant Mesh: Some screens are specifically designed to resist damage from pets, such as cats and dogs, which might scratch or chew through regular screens. These are usually made from a thicker and stronger material, like heavy-duty polyester or a specific type of stainless steel.

Phantom Screens (Retractable Screens): These are made from a variety of materials but are designed to retract into a housing when not in use, providing an unobstructed view when desired.
The frames for these screens can be made from wood, metal (such as aluminum), or plastic, depending on the design and intended longevity of the product.
